Healthy Recipe: Smoked Salmon Salad

Smoked salmon instantly transforms a simple salad into a flavorful, nutrient-packed meal loaded with high-quality protein and heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. This colorful combination of greens, avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, and creamy goat cheese delivers a satisfying balance of healthy fats, fiber, and freshness.

Inspired by the flavors of a classic bagel and lox combination, this salad skips the heaviness while keeping all the flavor. A bright lemon-dill dressing ties everything together for a refreshing meal that works beautifully for lunch or dinner.

Serves 4–6


Dressing

• 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice or white wine vinegar
• 1 tablespoon honey
• 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
• 2 tablespoons minced fresh dill (or 2 teaspoons dried)
• 6 tablespoons olive oil
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste


Salad

• 10 ounces tender mixed lettuces (about 8–10 cups)
• 2 medium ripe avocados, peeled, pitted, and cubed
• 1 cup halved cherry tomatoes
• 1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced into half-moons
• 6 ounces smoked salmon, torn into bite-size pieces
• ½ cup thinly sliced red onion
• 4 ounces crumbled goat cheese or feta
• Everything Bagel Croutons (optional)


Instructions

  1. Make the dressing: In a medium bowl, whisk together lemon juice or vinegar, honey, Dijon mustard, and dill. Slowly whisk in olive oil until emulsified. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. Refrigerate dressing if not using immediately. Bring to room temperature before serving.

  3. Place lettuces in a large serving bowl. Top with avocado, tomatoes, cucumber, smoked salmon, red onion, and goat cheese.

  4. Drizzle with a few tablespoons of dressing. Toss with additional dressing just before serving.
